Ordering the speedy implementation of decisions taken by the cabinet, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked the council of ministers why matters it had previously cleared are yet to materialize.

The premier was talking to the ministers at a cabinet meeting at her office in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain revealed these details at a press briefing at the Secretariat after the meeting.

“The cabinet approved 16 draft laws that are yet to be sent to the House in the form of bills,” he said.

Of the laws, one was drafted by the Land Ministry while four were drafted by the Home Ministry, he added.

“When the cabinet was updated about them, the prime minister questioned why the decisions are still pending and why it was not possible to implement them (on time),” the cabinet secretary said.

The premier wanted to know the reasons at the earliest, he said, adding that she also ordered that the cabinet be updated when the decisions will be implemented.

The prime minister is also keen to get a clear idea of whether it will be possible to implement the decisions.

Even if the decisions need to be revoked, the cabinet should be updated, she said.
