A Dhaka court has placed four people on a three-day remand each in a case filed for gang-raping a young woman who was kept chained in a house in Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim issued this order.
The court also directed the investigating officer to ensure that the names of all involved in this incident are included in the charge sheet.
The accused sent on remand are Saan, Himel, Rocky, and Salma alias Jhumur.
Mohammadpur police station Sub-Inspector Farukul Islam, also the case investigation officer, produced the accused before the court and sought a seven-day remand. The defence lawyers appealed for bail seeking cancellation of the remand. The prosecution opposed the bail and argued in favour of the remand.
During the hearing, the accused's lawyers said Saan did not know about the incident. There was a romantic relationship between the complainant and the accused, and this case was filed because a marriage did not occur.
Then Saan said to the court: "I do not know anything. I am not involved in this incident. I have been framed."
The judge, addressing the investigating officer, said that no matter how influential someone might be, everyone involved should be named in the charge sheet.
After hearing both sides, the court ordered a three-day remand for each accused.
A young woman was gang-raped for 25 days after being kept chained in a house in Mohammadpur, Dhaka. The victim filed a case at Mohammadpur Police Station on Sunday night, alleging rape and video recording of the rape while being held captive in a house in Nobinagar Housing.
Earlier, after hearing the screams of the young woman, a person called the national emergency service number 999, and the police rescued the young woman while she was still chained.
