Labor Directorate Director General Md Tariqul Alam said that the government is considering the matter of giving paternity leave to fathers after the birth of their children.
He said this at a national dialogue organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Labour Organization on Sunday.
Md Tariqul Alam said: “This is a new thing in our country. However, it has been accepted as a concept.”
Mentioning that the government is working on this matter, he said: “It will be looked over by the Ministry of Public Administration.”
According to the laws of Bangladesh, women get maternity leave, but there is no such rule for fathers.
