BRTC to add 550 more buses to its Eid service fleet

  • Remaining 50 buses will continue to operate within Dhaka
  • Long-distance buses will operate as usual

A total of 550 buses of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will join the Eid journey.

On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, these BRTC buses plying in Dhaka will take part in transporting passengers from Dhaka to various destinations in the country.

The decision was taken in a discussion meeting held at the BRTC office in Motijheel on Monday morning.

The chairman of the organization Md Tajul Islam said: “Last week, we convened a meeting in preparation for Eid. It has been decided that out of our fleet of 600 buses in Dhaka city, 550 buses will be dedicated to Eid service, while the remaining 50 buses will continue to operate within the city. Additionally, our long-distance buses will operate as usual to accommodate the extended Eid holiday.”

Md Tajul Islam said: “Currently, only 34 of our fleet vehicles are under lease. We have discontinued leasing vehicles. In 2020, out of 1,825 buses, 885 were in service. In 2021, out of 1,762 buses, 1,106 were operational. Similarly, in 2022, 1,233 out of 1,350 buses were on route, and in 2023, 1,253 out of 1,350 buses were operational.”
