Talha bin Jaim, media cell officer of fire service headquarters, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

He said that the fire originated from the carpet warehouse on the second floor of the building.

However, the reason behind the fire could not be known yet.

Meanwhile, since there are no windows in the building, the firefighters have to break down the walls to carry out rescue efforts.

According to fire service sources, the intensity of the fire has reduced but it has not been fully controlled.

Smoke is still seen coming out of the building.

Fire service and civil defense personnel were seen entering the building wearing oxygen masks and firefighting suits to carry out rescue operations.

Meanwhile, enthusiastic people and shop owners-employees are flocking to the spot after hearing the news of the fire.
