The First Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge, popularly known as the Postogola Bridge on the Buriganga River, is opened to traffic.
The bridge opened at 6am on Saturday after its renovation works were completed at the entry point of Dhaka.
Roads and Highways Department Superintendent Engineer (Narayanganj Circle) Mohammad Najmol Haque confirmed the matter.
He said: "The repair work has been completed. The bridge was opened to traffic from 6am on Saturday. ”
Roads and Highways Department started repair works on the bridge on February 22 and kept the bridge off-limit for heavy vehicles like trucks, pickup vans, covered vans, and lorries since then.
Besides, the bridge remained off-limits to buses, microbuses, cars, and other vehicles in different phases.
The department said two girders of the Bangladesh-China Friendship Buriganga Bridge-1 were repaired and retrofitted.
