The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) on Tuesday sealed off four restaurants in Dhaka’s Bailey Road amid the ongoing raids following the devastating fire in the area that killed 46.

A team from Rajuk, led by Executive Magistrate Mohammad Monir Hossain Hawlader, sealed off Nawabi Voj, Sultan’s Dine, Roaster Cafe and Pizza Mastan.

Officials said Nawabi Voj was sealed off as it was operating without permission, while the rest of the three restaurants were sealed off as employees could not provide proper documents.

Meanwhile, Swiss Bakery, situated in the same area, was fined Tk1 lakh for its lack of fire safety.

Earlier in the day, the Fire Service and Civil Defence officials along with Dhaka South City Corporation Executive Magistrate Jahangir Alam sealed off the Nightingale View building in the capital’s Khilgaon area due to fire safety risk.

The building was sealed off at around 12pm on Tuesday.

Following the Bailey Road fire incident, which resulted in the deaths of 46 people, police and various agencies have started raids in different areas of Dhaka.

Along with the police, city corporations and Rajuk, are also conducting raids against unauthorized restaurants in the capital.
