On February 16, 2024, SAJIDA Foundation spearheaded a youth-led campaign aimed at heightening awareness surrounding the prevention of child marriages, gender-based violence, and related societal issues.

The primary objective of this campaign is to empower the community, particularly the youth, to actively combat such practices and foster an environment that is not only safer but also more supportive.

Through a behavioural-change campaign, SAJIDA aspires to underscore the critical need for access to safe Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities.

The campaign unfolded with a vibrant array of activities starting with a community rally, games, art and wall art competitions, discussion forums, and cultural events, engaging children and adolescents in a meaningful way.

Hosted for the IG Gate community members, comprising a diverse group of men, women, and children, the event was organized with the unwavering guidance and support of relevant stakeholders.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Dr Awlad Hossain, MP, representing Dhaka-4; Mohammad Sakhawat Hossain Sarker, DSCC zonal executive officer, Zone-5; Shahana Akhter, DCCC councillor of Ward-47 from Dhaka South City Corporation, alongside high officials from SAJIDA Foundation and Plan International Bangladesh.

The initiative's footprint extends across five low-income areas of Dhaka South City Corporation: Shyampur, Wari, Bangshal, Dholpur, Khilagon, and encompasses seven nearby schools.

The overarching goal of the "Breaking the Silence" campaign goes beyond mere awareness-raising; it seeks to instigate tangible change within the community.

Such campaign initiative creates wider awareness on community people and draw strong commitment on government strategic plan for child marriage restraint act and protecting girls and women from family induced violence.

By actively involving the youth and employing various engaging formats, the initiative aims to cultivate a community-driven movement addressing the root causes of the prevalent issues, fostering a safer, more inclusive environment for all.
