Krishak Sramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the most helpless ruler in the world, emphasizing that no one is as helpless as her.
“She can only be compared to herself,” he said at Tangail Press Club on Tuesday afternoon.
"I believed we would have a fair and impartial election. Sadly, the 2024 election was even worse than the 2018 one. In the 2018 election, people went to the polling centres and voted, this time the same number of people did not go to the polling centres and did not vote. Not even 5% of the general population went to vote," he added.
"The excitement people usually feel after an election has not been felt in Bangladesh after elections," he added.
Regarding a question about the US opinion on the election, he said: "I am not worried if the US accepted the election. The real question is if it was held properly and if the people are satisfied. Regardless of how the election was done, even the government is unhappy with it."
He said: "The turnout was only 20% to 25%. After being told to change the numbers, he claimed 40% of votes were cast. The Chief Election commissioner should have resigned by the evening of January 7."
He further said: "After Bangabandhu was assassinated, we fell into deep trouble. The country's current condition, its moral state show it can not progress well. The main opposition party is mostly responsible for these problems. Despite winning independence from Pakistan, we are not doing better than Pakistan now."
