Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Monday criticized BNP-Jamaat for keeping mum over the genocide being carried out by Israeli occupation force in Palestine.

"BNP-Jamaat is yet to utter a single word against the genocide in Palestine," he said, adding: "Interests of the country can never be protected by those who remain silent against genocide for their own sake."

"In the past, when BNP was in power, we, Awami League, as the opposition party moved a condemnation motion in the parliament against the killing and torture in Palestine. But, the then speaker and leader of the House did not accept it," he said.

Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, was addressing a seminar on Stop Genocide in Palestine, Solidarity from Bangladesh, organized by Bangladesh Shanti Parishad at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the city's Kakrail area, said an official press release.

Expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people, Hasan Mahmud said: “Palestine will certainly win and Bangladesh, the people of the country, the government and Awami League as a political party are and will remain with Palestine.”

Parishad President Mozaffar Hossain Paltu presided over the seminar while Palestine Ambassador to Bangladesh Yousef Ramadan spoke as the special guest.
