Kazi Nabil Ahmed, the Awami League candidate for Jessore-3, has clinched victory, marking his third consecutive term as a member of parliament (MP) for the seat.
Various leaders from social, professional, educational, and business sectors, along with party members and supporters, extended their congratulations to him with floral greetings at Kazi Shahid Center in Jessore city on Monday.
Kazi Nabil Ahmed, who won the 12th national election by defeating his rival candidate by a huge margin, said: "This year's election has involved more people through various processes.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done a lot for the people. The people of the country have confidence in Sheikh Hasina. I went to the people and asked for their votes. I have highlighted the achievements of the prime minister and worked for the development of the area. I got a lot of support from the people. Hopefully, we can continue to develop Bangladesh for the next five years.”
Kazi Nabil added that this victory is the victory of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “The people of the country have chosen Sheikh Hasina the power to form a government for the fourth time.”
He later expressed his commitment to ongoing development initiatives in Jessore, emphasizing the completion of projects such as the sports arena, infrastructure for a business-friendly environment, and improvements in road and rail communication.
He also pledged efforts to expedite the construction of the pending 500-bed medical college hospital, as well as initiatives for sports, art, and culture.
"I am indebted to the voters. I want to work for their development and welfare as per their needs. I am grateful to them. The people of Jessore have bound me with love and affection,” the MP added.
According to the results obtained from a total of 189 centres, Kazi Nabil Ahmed secured 121,720 votes with the Boat symbol. His nearest rival, independent candidate and Sadar upazila Awami League President Mohit Kumar Nath, got 64,511 votes with the Eagle symbol.
