Two mobile courts on Tuesday fined a teacher leader Tk50,000 and a resort Tk20,000 for organizing a teachers' meeting at a picnic spot violating the code of conduct of the 12th national parliamentary election.
The teacher organized the meeting at Neel Para Sabuj Chaya Resort in Gazipur metropolis on Tuesday afternoon.
A mobile court led by Senior Assistant Commissioner of Gazipur Deputy Commissioner's Office Sumaiya Momin fined Basan Thana President of KG School Association Alamgir Kabir Tk50,000 while the mobile court of Senior Assistant Commissioner Shahrukh Khan fined Sabuj Chaya Resort Tk20,000.
Sumaiya Momin said that the KG School Association organized the teachers' rally at the Sabuj Chaya picnic spot without permission.
Around 11,000 teachers and their family members from various kindergarten schools gathered at the resort.
Two executive magistrates appeared there after receiving the news.
According to the electoral code of conduct, prior permission of the local administration is required to organize such gatherings.
Sumaiya Momin said that such gatherings are illegal during the national election.
Many teachers are likely to be involved in performing duties as election officers in elections. Due to these reasons, this penalty has been imposed, she added.
