Actor Mahiya Mahi will contest with the "Truck" symbol in the upcoming 12th general elections.
The candidates' symbols were allocated in the conference room of the Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Shamim Ahmed's office on Monday.
The actress herself confirmed the news of the symbol allotment on social media. She said her favorite symbol is "Truck".
As no other independent candidate sought the symbol, the symbol was allotted to her by the Returning Officer.
After receiving the symbol, the candidates can campaign in full swing. But all the candidates have to follow the Electoral code of conduct.
After failing to secure the Awami League ticket, Mahiya filed her nomination as an independent candidate for Rajshahi-1.
The Returning Officer Shamim Ahmed on December 3, however, declared her nomination papers invalid after 1% voter's signature was found to be “false” during verification.
The Election Commission declared Mahiya Mahi’s nomination paper valid after hearing her appeal against the Returning Officer's decision on December 11.
