Dr Shamsul Alam, former state minister of planning and Ekushey Padak-winning economist, has said the country is going forward due to proper planning and overall resource management.
He highlighted the value of practical education, saying students should be equipped with technical and practical skills to help build Bangabandhu's Sonar Bangla, at Sylhet Agricultural University's student orientation for the 2022–2023 academic year on Sunday.
Under the chairmanship of Director of Student Counseling and Guidance Office Professor Dr Mohammad Atikuzzaman, Associate Professor Dr Partha Pratim Barman and Assistant Professor Prithila Pooja moderated the program, and as the main patron, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Md Jamal Uddin Bhuiyan delivered a speech.
Convener of Dean's Council Prof Dr Md Siddikul Islam, Convener of Provost Council Professor Dr Jitendra Nath Adhikari, Proctor Professor Dr Md Monirul Islam and Registrar Md Badrul Islam were present as special guests.
The VC said agriculture is moving forward by combining technology with nature. Bangladesh is self-sufficient in food because of the contribution of agriculturists.
