OCs of 5 police stations in Bogra reshuffled

  • Transfers made in line with govt decision
  • OCs serving over 6 months transferred
Update : 08 Dec 2023, 06:14 PM

Officers-in-charge of five police stations in Bogra district have been reshuffled as per directives from the Election Commission ahead of the 12th parliamentary election.

This change was made in an office order signed by Additional DIG of Police Headquarters Mohammad Zahirul Islam on Thursday.

Superintendent of Police Snigdho Akhtar explained that the transfers were made in line with a government decision. The rationale behind such moves is that if an officer remains in a district for an extended period, criminals may become less apprehensive, and the desired service is not received from them.

Bogra district houses 12 police stations, and the OCs of five of these stations, having served for over six months, have been reassigned to different police stations.

KGM Farooq, the general secretary of the non-governmental organization Supra, commented that prolonged assignments in a district may affect the quality of service provided by officers, particularly in law enforcement. The move to reshuffle OCs is aimed at maintaining effectiveness and preventing potential complacency in criminal deterrence.
