A total of 158 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) platoons and 435 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) patrol teams have been deployed across Bangladesh on the second day of the 48-hour blockade called by BNP and like-minded parties.
Apart from the BGB and RAB teams, members of Bangladesh Police are also ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country on Monday.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB's legal and media wing, confirmed the matter.
In addition, RAB detectives have continued to patrol important places including bus stands, and railway stations to prevent any kind of sabotage and violence.
Traffic situation in Dhaka
Public transportation was seen operating normally in several areas of the capital, including Shyamoli, Kalyanpur, and Mazar Road on Monday morning.
Additionally, private vehicles, rickshaws and CNG autorickshaws were actively plying the streets.
Long-distance buses are also operational from Gabtoli, Mohakhali, and Sayedabad terminals.
The ninth phase of the BNP’s blockade started at 6am on Sunday and will end at 6am on Tuesday.
The opposition parties observed blockades prior to this to mount pressure on the Awami League government to quit power and hold the next general election under a non-partisan administration.
