Update : 29 Nov 2023, 10:43 AM

The latest 24-hour road-rail-waterway blockade called by the BNP is underway across the country with reports of arson attacks.

Dhaka was witnessing the usual traffic on Wednesday morning despite the blockade. Commuters were going to their destinations in a rush while activities at government and private offices were going on as usual.

Many students with their parents were going to their schools for their final exams.

A bus of Turag Paribahan was set on fire at Dholaipar in the Shyampur area of Dhaka at 5:30am.

A total of 428 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) patrol teams have been deployed across the country to maintain law and order during the blockade.

The BNP on Monday called for a blockade on Wednesday and a daylong hartal on Thursday to protest the schedule for the national election announced by the Election Commission.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the programs were also meant to mount pressure on the government to quit, hold the election under a non-party neutral government, and release BNP leaders and activists, including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
