A 48-hour blockade called by BNP-Jamaat and like-minded political parties ended at 6am on Tuesday.
Over the past two days, there have been reports of multiple vehicles being set ablaze in various parts of the country, including the capital city Dhaka.
Talha Bin Jasim, an official at the Fire Service And Civil Defence Media Cell, said they received information that 21 transports were set on fire from 4am on Sunday to 6pm on Monday.
Of these, 12 transports were set on fire in the capital Dhaka. The remaining nine incidents took place in different parts of the country, he added.
At least four vehicles were set on fire in Gazipur, Kaliakair and Narayanganj, and four others in Khagrachhari, and Chittagong.
Apart from those, a water tanker was torched in Bogra.
A total of 41 units of Fire Service And Civil Defence and 242 personnel worked to douse the fire.
Statistics show that fire incidents were reported more during the day than at night, the official said.
Arsons from October 28 to Monday
There were 110 incidents of arson reported between October 28 and Monday.
Of these, 29 incidents were reported on October 28, 19 on October 29, one on October 30, 11 on October 31, 14 on November 1, seven on November 2, six on November 4, 13 on Sunday, and 10 on Monday.
Fresh blockade by BNP
The opposition BNP has announced another 48-hour blockade starting Wednesday morning as the party and its allies enforce a nationwide blockade set to end early on Tuesday.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, senior joint secretary general of the party, made the announcement in a virtual press conference on Monday afternoon.
The third phase of the blockade will start at 6am on Wednesday and will continue till Friday 6am.
