Premier show of documentary film on Martyr Dhirendranath Dutta held

The premier of a documentary film on Martyr Dhirendranath Dutta, titled “Titas Parer Manushti: Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta,” was held at the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segunbagicha of the capital yesterday. 

The documentary has been directed by renowned filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel and produced by Dutta's family members.

The 70-minute show was held at the Chitrashala auditorium of the academy at 6pm. 

Members of parliament Aroma Dutta, granddaughter of Dhirendranath Dutta, and RAM Obaidul Moktadir Chowdhury were present on the occasion along with noted writers Mofidul Haque and Shahriar Kabir.

Dhirendranath Dutta was at the frontier of establishing the Language Movement in 1952. He was a member of the first Pakistan Constituent Assembly in 1947, and the first parliamentarian in the Constituent Assembly who, at great personal risk, demanded Bangla as the state language on February 25, 1948, in Karachi.

MP Aroma Dutta at the premier said that Dhirendranath Dutta had predicted that the country would become independent through the sacrifices of many lives.
