The trial production of the second unit of Bagerhat's Rampal thermal power plant has commenced, announced the Rampal thermal power authority on Tuesday.
Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL) Deputy General Manager Anwarul Azim confirmed that the trial production of the second unit began at around 4am.
The initial output from the second unit reached 400MW of electricity.
The first unit of the thermal power plant started its production on December 17, 2022, and has remained operational despite intermittent closures. With both units operational, the power plant now has a combined capacity of 1,320MW.
