Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said that the statement made by Comilla Awami League president and Comilla Sadar member of parliament AKM Bahauddin regarding Puja is his personal opinion.

He made these remarks while addressing questions from journalists after exchanging greetings with members of the Hindu community at the Dhakeswari National Temple in the capital Friday morning.

The minister added: "We have all advised him to refrain from such remarks. Everyone is on full alert in Comilla."

Speaking about controlling rumours during Puja, the home minister said: "A handful of people who opposed the creation of Bangladesh work against those who do good. While they are few, they can cause disruptive incidents. That's why our security forces are always on high alert."

The home minister added: "With the advent of Digital Bangladesh, rumours spread in the cyber world. To counter this, our police have established a cyber unit, which is highly active. We can swiftly identify those spreading rumours. They won't get away with it. Our security forces are vigilant."

Regarding a notice issued by the Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Oikya Parishad on October 6, it was mentioned that during a meeting at the Comilla Deputy Commissioner's office on October 4 regarding Durga Puja preparations, MP Bahauddin had called for a “liquor-free” Puja.
