Ten more deaths were reported from dengue in 24 hours till Monday morning, raising the fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 1,096 this year.
During the period, 2,660 more patients were hospitalized with viral fever, according to a DGHS statement.
Of the new patients, 649 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest outside the capital indicating a worsening situation across the country, DGHS said.
A total of 8,820 dengue patients, including 2,756 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.
So far, the DGHS has recorded 226,224 dengue cases and 216,308 recoveries this year.
"This year, 1,096 deaths, the highest in a year since dengue was detected in 2000, were reported from dengue disease while 281 died last year," the statement said.
The authorities recorded 79, 598 dengue positive cases in September while 396 deaths from the mosquito-borne disease during the same period.
