Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has shot dead a 15-year-old Bangladeshi along the Kulaura border in Moulvibazar.

The deceased, Ferdous, hailed from Sharifpur Union, UP Chairman Khalilur Rahman confirmed to Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday.

Md Abdus Salek, office-in-charge of Kulaura police station, said the body will be handed over to the family after an autopsy.

According to the UP chairman, Ferdous, along with his aides, tried to enter India illegally through Lalarachak border area of Kulaura on Sunday night. Sensing their presence, BSF members opened fire and Ferdous was shot.

He was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injury on Tuesday.

The UP chairman claimed that Ferdous was part of a drugs trafficking racket. The family, however, denied the allegation and said he went to the border area to bring in cattle.
