Thousands of BNP leaders and activists joined the road march on Tuesday to press home
their one-point demand in Faridpur.
Despite the heavy rain, processions arrived from various police stations in the Faridpur district and quickly occupied the Rajbari Road intersection area. The entire area was bustling with people.
The road march started at 11am at the Goalanda intersection in Rajbari district, and at nearly 2pm, it reached the Rajbari road intersection in Faridpur. As the rally arrived there, it transformed into a massive turnout.
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury addressed the rally as the chief guest with BNP chairperson's adviser Zainul Abdin Farroque presiding over the event. BNP standing committee member Selima Rahman also spoke on the stage.
In their speech, the leaders said the government must to release Begum Khaleda Zia as soon as possible. Elections should be ensured under a non-partisan, neutral government.
Meanwhile, a rally was scheduled to be held at 11am in the Rajbari Road intersection area, but due to the inclement weather, the rally workers arrived at least three hours later.
Local leaders from different police stations, upazila municipalities, metropolitan, and union levels spoke on the stage during the road march, which was organized in preparation for the road march at Rajbari road intersection area starting from 9am.
