Adam Tamizi Haque has filed an application to Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina seeking to be relieved of all posts of the party’s north city unit.
He posted a copy of the application on Facebook on Saturday.
Adam Tamizi Haque, managing director of Haque Group of Industries, is currently out of the country.
In the application, he wrote: "Honorable president, it is with due respect that I, Adam Tamizi Haque, have been working diligently with Bangladesh Awami League for the last seven years and have contributed to the development work as much as possible. I became a primary member of the Bangladesh Awami League and a member of the Executive Committee of Dhaka North City unit Awami League.”
"It is not possible for me to continue politics as I have started living permanently in Saudi Arabia with my family. I want to spend the rest of my life on the path of religion (Islam) and business. Therefore, I am seeking to be relieved of all party posts of Bangladesh Awami League,” the application reads.
The ruling Awami League on September 18 suspended Adam Tamizi Haque from the party for criticizing the government and a state minister on Facebook Live.
