A student of Dhaka University died after falling from a balcony of a building of Bijoy Ekattor Hall early Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Kazi Firoz, a student of the Department of Chinese Language and Culture. He was a resident of Freedom Fighter Ziaur Rahman Hal.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost in-Charge Md Bacchu Mia said: "A student named Kazi Firoz was brought to the DMCH where the duty doctor declared him dead. I have learnt that he fell from the building and died.”
Muhib, a student of Bijoy Ekattor Hall, said they were drinking tea at night. At that time, they heard the sound and rushed to the spot and found Firoz lying there.
Later, he was taken to DMCH where doctors declared him dead.
Mohammad Bellal Hossain, provost of Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall, said: "We are working on the matter. Firoz's family has been contacted. They are on their way to Dhaka.”
The body of the student was kept in the DMCH morgue.
