Awami League leader rescued unconscious two days after disappearance

Locals rescued an Awami League leader Shah Alam Sarkar from the side of the cemetery in an unconscious state two days after he went missing in Tangail. 

He was rescued from the graveyard of Chhabisha village of Bhuapur upazila Tuesday morning.

Shah Alam is the son of Abdul Majid Sarkar (Montu) of Athail Shimul village of Lokpara union of Ghatail upazila of Shah Alam Sarkar district. He is the joint general secretary of Lokpara union Awami League.

Shah Alam's brother Omar Farooq said: “On the morning of September 17, he left his home in Ghatail to go to Bhuapur’s Lab One Hospital. Since then, there has been no trace of him. Two days after the incident, on Tuesday morning, the locals rescued him from the side of the cemetery of Chhabisha village in an unconscious state.” 

“He was later admitted to the hospital. It is not yet confirmed where he was during these two days or whether someone abducted him,” he added.

Bhuapur police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ahsan Ullah said: “Police have been sent to the scene. No complaint has been received in this incident yet. If complaints are received, legal action will be taken.”
