Update : 18 Sep 2023, 06:35 PM

The ruling Awami League on Monday suspended Adam Tamizi Haque from the party for criticizing the party, the government and a state minister on Facebook Live.

Dhaka North City Unit Awami League President Sheikh Bazlur Rahman confirmed Dhaka Tribune on Monday afternoon.

He was a member of Dhaka North City Unit Awami League.

Party sources said that the decision was taken due to the Facebook live of Adam Tamizi Haque.

Recently Adam Tamizi Haque came live on social media and burnt his Bangladeshi passport.

He also made derogatory comments on the ruling party Awami League and its top leader Sheikh Hasina.

According to party sources, Dhaka North City Unit Awami League senior leaders held an emergency meeting on Sunday night on the Adam Tamizi Haque issue and they have decided to suspend him from the party post.

Later, that decision came to light on Monday afternoon.

Sheikh Bazlur Rahman said: “We are trying to find information about him and why he is behaving like this. But his video embarrassed us enough. Not only did he talked about party matters, but he also burnt the passport of Bangladesh, which is tantamount to treason. We therefore recommend his expulsion. He said many negative things about the Awami League.”

When contacted William Proloy Samadder, the office secretary of Dhaka North Unit Awami League, said: “We are going to the Awami league office to file our recommendation letter to suspend him from the party.”

Awami League Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and General Secretary Obaidul Quader both are now out of Bangladesh.

The final decision will be taken against Adam Tamizi Haque after their concern, said the party insiders.

According to Awami League constitution, the Central Working Committee only can give the decision of expulsion of anyone from the party post.
