A Dhaka court on Monday fixed October 15 for submitting the probe report over around 55.51 kilograms of gold stolen from the vault of the customs at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nurul Huda Chowdhury passed the order in a case filed with Airport police station over the incident.

Custom House Assistant Revenue Officer Mohammad Sohrab Hossain filed the case last night over the gold stolen from customs warehouse.

According to the FIR, during patrolling on a regular basis, an airport official noticed the lock of a particular vault was broken, and immediately notified it to his senior officials around 9pm on Saturday.

On information, the joint commissioner along with other customs officials visited the spot and identified that a part of the tin-made vault was cut with a sharp object.

The customs officials later identified that around 55.51 kilograms of gold, worth about Tk45 crore, seized in different drives conducted from 2020-2023 were missing from the vault.

The customs house, however, has already formed a five-member probe body led by a joint commissioner to investigate the incident.
