Rounak is survived by her siblings, Zahed Hossain Khan, Rafaat Ara Khanam, and Saadat Hossain Khan.

She leaves behind her husband M Faroque Amin, and their two daughters, Sanam Ara Amin, and Shayan Ara Amin.

Together, they spent close to three decades in diplomatic service, with postings in France, Japan, Nepal, Iran and Thailand, where Rounak held her last position before retirement, at the Bangladesh Embassy in Bangkok.

Rounak was a humorous friend and showed a remarkable flair for languages. She picked up five languages over her lifetime. She loved music, sometimes played the harmonium, and sang classical songs.

She had a love for animals that she passed on to her children, who were lucky to know her dog Lassie, and to share many more dogs, cats, and a parrot in the course of their life together around the world.
