A BNP procession commenced from the Naya Paltan central office on Friday afternoon. The procession is scheduled to conclude at the Rajdhani Market, passing through the Fakirapool junction.

This event marks BNP's 45th founding anniversary. In celebration, the party has organized various programs, including a procession in Dhaka.

This year, BNP commemorates its founding anniversary under unique circumstances. Having been out of power for over 16 years, the party is currently engaged in a simultaneous movement demanding the resignation of the government.

In observance of the anniversary, the national flag and the party flag were raised at BNP offices nationwide, including the central office.

Senior BNP leaders initiated the program by paying their respects at the grave of Ziaur Rahman, the party's founder, at 10:30am in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

Before the procession began, leaders and activists gathered on the road adjacent to the office in preparation.

However, the program was briefly interrupted due to rain. The procession will pass through Fakirapool intersection, Notre Dame College, Shapla Chattar, Ittefaq intersection, and conclude at the Rajdhani Market.

The procession includes the participation of BNP leaders, activists, and affiliated organizations. Moreover, all branches of the party across the country will celebrate the foundation anniversary according to their respective capabilities.

BNP was founded on this day in 1978 by Ziaur Rahman, who served as the founding chairman. Ziaur Rahman was killed in Chittagong on May 30, 1981. Subsequently, his wife Khaleda Zia assumed the leadership of BNP on February 21, 1983, following a series of incidents. She has since served as the party's chairperson.

Due to Khaleda Zia's illness, her son Tarique Rahman currently serves as the acting chairman of BNP.
