Bangladesh, global journalists mourn loss of Kazi Shahid Ahmed

Journalists from all around Bangladesh and abroad have expressed their deepest grief and sorrow over the death of Kazi Shahid Ahmed, a distinguished entrepreneur, sports organizer, writer, and publisher.

The Jessore Press Club has conveyed profound sorrow and sympathy to the grieving family, praying for the eternal peace of Kazi Shahid Ahmed's departed soul. 

In a letter issued on Monday night, the President of the press club Jahid Hasan Tukun, and the General Secretary SM Tauhidur Rahman shared their condolences.

In their message, they said Kazi Shahid Ahmed played a significant role in the advancement of the Jessore Press Club

Apart from him, his family members have extended a hand of support to the development work of the press club at different times. 

Not only the press club, but the role and contribution of Kazi Shahid Ahmed in the socio-economic development of the people of Jessore is undeniable. In his death, the country's media has lost a remarkable publisher, the letter adds. 

Meanwhile, the journalists of the UK-Bangla Press Club, London, have expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Kazi Shahid Ahmed. 

President of the UK-Bangla Press Club Reza Ahmed Faisal Chowdhury Shoaib, General Secretary Saidul Islam and others issued a condolence message on Monday night. 

The letter said: “We remember with deep respect the cultural personality who made a tremendous contribution to the modern journalism in Bangladesh.”

Kazi Shahid Ahmed breathed his last at 7:15pm on Monday. He was 82.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed deep condolence at his death.

His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Dhanmondi Road 7 Mosque after Zuhr prayer and the second one at Gulshan Azad mosque after the Asr prayer on Tuesday. 

Then, the renowned entrepreneur will be laid to eternal rest at Banani Graveyard, according to family sources.

Born in 1940 in Jessore, his legacy is etched in his multifaceted contributions to various fields.

As the founder and chairman of the Gemcon Group, Kazi Shahid Ahmed left an indelible mark on the business landscape.
