BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed his anger over a post circulating on social media using a fabricated image of fake cheque of the prime minister's relief fund on social media mentioning his name.
The social media posts that were circulated on social media mentioned that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has gone to Singapore for his treatment with a donation of Tk50,00,000 from the prime minister's relief fund.
Later, this matter came to the notice of Mirza Fakhrul, he expressed his anger.
He also mentioned the incident as dirty.
Asked about the authenticity of the cheque, Hasan Jahid Tusher, deputy-press secretary to the Prime Ministers' Office (PMO), confirmed that the news was not true.
Quoting Mirza Fakhrul, BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan said: "A photo of a fake cheque has been circulated on social media. It is undoubtedly a mess. He (Mirza Fakhrul) along with his wife is receiving medical treatment in Singapore. Spreading these fake things at this moment is the worst case of filth and incivility.”
