Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said no country in the world sends their prisoners to another country for treatment.
He was replying to a question on the BNP's demand to send its chief Khaled Zia, a convict, abroad for treatment, on Sunday.
"I do not know any country that sends its prisoner to another country for treatment. We are providing her with the best possible treatment in the country."
Khaleda has been suffering from various ailments, including liver cirrhosis, arthritis, diabetes, and kidney, lung, heart and eye problems.
She was sent to Old Dhaka Central Jail after her conviction in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case by a lower court on February 8, 2018.
The government is allowing her to stay at her Gulshan home through an executive order.
