Earlier, Jamaat announced that it would be offering an absentee funeral prayer at Jamiyatul Falah Masjid for the convicted war criminal Delawar Hossain Sayedee, who had passed away on Monday night.

In the afternoon, police closed both gates of the mosque grounds and took position there. Party leaders and followers gradually gathered there. In the afternoon, police chased and dispersed Jamaat and its student wing, Chhatra Shibir, leaders and workers.

Meanwhile, a group of workers who had gathered threw bricks at police line near Dampara at the Chittagong Metropolitan Police headquarters. In the meantime, some Jamaat-Shibir activists were injured due to police baton-charging them, while several policemen sustained injuries from the other side’s stone-pelting.

Later, police drove away the protesters who had congregated around the Jamiyatul Falah Masjid grounds, leading them from Kazir Dewri in the city through Chatteshwari and Wasa intersections to Hazrat Garib Ullah Shah Mazar, covering an approximate one-kilometre distance.
