Awami League Joint General Secretary and Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that BNP is on the brink of destruction now and will collapse if they boycott the next national parliamentary election.
He made this remark while addressing a discussion of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote marking the 93rd birth anniversary of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib at National Press Club.
BNP is such a political party, which does not attend the parliamentary elections, upazila elections, even in the union parishad election, said Hasan Mahmud.
"I would like to ask BNP leaders and activists why they are doing politics of a party that doesn't allow anyone to contest polls. What are the causes for which they will stay as the musclemen of Tarique Rahman," he said.
Pointing to the BNP senior leaders, Hasan Mahmud said: “They will be benefitted only if they walk on the path of democracy. I will tell their senior leaders; how long will you follow the imposed decision? By following this decision BNP is on the edge of the abyss today, if it boycotts the next election, it will fall into the abyss.”
Organizing Secretary of Awami League Sujit Roy Nandi, National Committee Member of Awami League Balaram Podder, Dhaka South unit Awami League’s former general secretary Shahe Alam Murad among others spoke in the discussion which was arranged to commemorate Fazilatunnesa Mujib to mark her 93rd birth anniversary.
