Abdul Quader Mirza, mayor of Basurhat municipality and Companiganj upazila Awami League president, on Thursday said that he will burn down his American visa if it is required for the sake of party.
"I have an American visa. If I think it is necessary for the party, I will call the journalist and burn that visa in front of them, because US made a statement in support of BNP, which is a recognized terrorist group by the Canadian court.” Said Quader Mirza, also younger brother of Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.
“But they (America) do not say anything against BNP activists. Their (America's) policy is only this - faults are thick where love is thin.”
He said this on Wednesday at 7:30pm live from his verified Facebook account.
Quader Mirza said: "BNP's movement is stuck in mud. They failed in the movement on July 29 and started again ... .I don't think there is anything to worry about BNP.”
Pointing to BNP’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman, he said: “You show the power of money? Corrupt government officials give you money. Now you have to come to the election. Because, at the rate you traded the nomination, if you don't get elected, don't pay them back. As a result, those leaders will become inactive if they do not get the nomination. Then the BNP will turn into Muslim League.”
Quader Mirza requested Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to arrange eight rallies in eight divisional cities in the month of August. Civil society’s intellectuals along with all the forces of the liberation war will participate in it. The theme of which will be 'Bangabandhu and Bangladesh'.
This will strengthen the fear of the party. The party will be strong in the next election, he said.
