As many as 573 people were killed and 1,256 sustained injuries in 511 road accidents throughout Bangladesh in July, according to the latest report of Road Safety Foundation (RSF).
Among the deceased, 94 were women and 76 were children.
In July, 183 people were killed in 188 motorcycle accidents, which is 31.93% of the total deaths.
The motorcycle accident rate is 36.79%. As many as 146 pedestrians were killed in accidents, which is 25.47% of the total deaths. The driver and assistant of the vehicle were killed 78, which is 13.61% of the total deaths.
RSF prepared the data based on reports published by nine national dailies, seven online news portals and electronic media.
In July, 16 people were killed, 23 injured and 11 missing in 14 boat accidents.
Thirty-two people were killed and 12 injured in 33 railway accidents.
