Election Commissioner Md Alamgir on Sunday informed that the commission is considering the sending of ballot papers to the polling stations in the morning of the National Parliamentary elections.

Mentioning that the electoral materials of the polls held during the current election commission were sent in the morning, this commissioner said: “We may take such a decision in the national elections as well.”

The commission will first identify the places where ballot papers can be sent in the morning. Where it is not possible to send in the morning, ballot papers and materials will be sent at night with special arrangements to avoid misuse or theft on the way.

Md Alamgir informed about such a plan while talking to reporters at his office in Nirbachan Bhaban on Sunday.

He said that the election will be held using ballot papers this time also. “We have some strategies to ensure that there will be no abuse of the ballot. We will try to implement them.”

In response to a query whether there is a plan to install CCTV cameras in vulnerable centres, Md Alamgir said: “There was no formal discussion on this matter... No decision till now.”

“Because you know that there are 400,000 polling stations when voting is held in 300 constituencies. There may be several vulnerable centres. It is difficult to see it by installing CC cameras in so many centres. We will appoint more members of the law enforcement force in special measures in those vulnerable centers,” added the EC.

He also said that if all the political parties participate in the elections, there will already be a balance. Rather than law enforcement, they play a role in maintaining order. Because they know that if any situation deteriorates or a fraudulent situation arises in the elections, they will suffer.

In response to the question whether there is any pressure on the issue of local and international observers, he said that there is no pressure in this regard.
