Salbhi Sumaiya, a talented Bangladeshi artist currently residing in Canada, is set to make her mark on the moon through the Lunar Codex.
Her artwork “Maternal Instinct” is being sent to the moon, along with 30,000 other works.

The talented artist possesses a diverse range of skills, but her primary passion lies in Fine Arts.
She pursued her education in this field, obtaining a major in Fine Arts and achieving an Honors degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia from SMUCT, Dhaka, according to Toronto Outdoor Art Fair’s website.
Alongside the “Maternal Instinct” artwork, Lunar Codex will carry “Meraki Studio” (2022), a powerful film that showcases Sumaiya's artistic vision.
Samuel Peralta, a semi-retired physicist and art collector from Canada is leading the effort.
He has gathered artwork from 30,000 artists, writers, filmmakers and musicians from 157 countries, and the works are being divided into a total of four time capsules.
The first is called the Orion Collection, which has already been to space as part of Nasas Artemis 1 mission and returned to Earth in late 2022.
According to the website, the other three capsules -- the Nova Collection, the Peregrine Collection, and the Polaris Collection will land on the moon over the next few years.
Among the works selected for the Lunar Codex are Ayana Ross’ “New American Gothic”, Pauline Aubey’s “Lego Portrait Emerald Girl and The Polaris Trilogy: Poems for the Moon” and more.
