11 Sust students awarded AF Mujibur Rahman Gold Medal

Eleven students from the Department of Mathematics of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) have been honoured with 14 AF Mujibur Rahman Gold Medals in three categories, in recognition of their significant achievements in mathematics.

The medals were awarded on Tuesday at a ceremony held at the university's mini auditorium, organized by the Department of Mathematics and presented on behalf of the AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation.

The awardees for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels included students who graduated in various years from 2016 to 2021.

Among the postgraduates, the medalists are Umme Tahera, Rina Pal, Mohammad Shahnewaz Bhuiya, Fahmida Afroze, Ruma Akhtar, Shifa Begum, Mohammad Noman, Saiyad Imam Mahdi, Mohammad Shahidul Islam, and Nasrin Akhtar Taniya. They got the medals in the “General,” and “Thesis” categories.

The undergraduate medalists include Shifa Begum, Saiyad Imam Mahdi, Nasrin Akhtar Taniya, and Mohammad Ebadur Rahman.

Sust Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed was present as the chief guest in this program under the chairmanship of Professor Dr Md Mahbubur Rashid, head of the Department of Mathematics, and moderated by Dr Himadri Shekhar Chakraborty.

In his keynote speech, Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed expressed delight at the students' progression and emphasized the importance of focusing on mathematics to advance in science and technology.

He assured that every effort is being made to ensure all necessary facilities for the students and expressed gratitude to the AF Mujibur Rahman Foundation for their contributions in awarding the gold medals and scholarships.

He also extended congratulations to all the medal recipients.
