Tungipara Upazila Awami League started the mourning month program on the first day of August yesterday, wearing black badges, hoisting black flags, offering floral tributes, and holding mourning processions and meetings.
They hoisted the black flag at the Tungipara Upazila Awami League office in the morning and wore the black badges as part of the month-long programs. Later, they paid tribute with flowers at the altar of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's mausoleum.
After reciting from the Quran, the leaders participated in prayers for the souls of Bangabandhu and the martyrs of August 15, 1975. At this time, special prayers are offered for Bangabandhu’s daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The affiliated organizations of the Awami League also paid tribute to Bangabandhu.
Later, a mourning procession was taken out by the Upazila Awami League in the town.
Members of the Awami League’s Sub-Committee on Education and Human Resources also paid floral tribute to the Father of the Nation in Tungipara. They recited the holy Fateha for the souls of the martyrs and prayed for Sheikh Hasina.
Shamsunnahar Champa, Kamrul Hasan, Mahbub Ali Khan, Badiuzzaman Sohag, Mehdi Jamil and Sheikh Russell were present.
At 4:30pm, on behalf of the district administration, Deputy Commissioner Kazi Mahbubul Alam paid tribute to the Father of the Nation by placing flowers at the mausoleum. District administration officials were present at that time.
Superintendent of Police Al-Beli Afifa, on behalf of the district police, paid deep respect to the memory of Bangabandhu by laying wreaths and reciting Fateha at the mausoleum.
Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Mozammel Haque and Barisal Range Deputy Inspector General Md Jamil Hassan also paid floral tributes.
