Police have detained BNP's Dhaka Metropolitan North convener Aman Ullah Aman from Gabtoli area.
He was taken away in a police jeep around 11:30am on Saturday
A counter sit-ins program was going on in Gabtoli. Meanwhile, there was a three-way clash among the leaders and activists of the Awami League, BNP and the police.
At one stage, Aman Ullah Aman become unconscious and fell on the ground.
Then, the police took him away in a car.
The police arrested about 20 activists of the opposition party from the spot.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Prime Minister Office (PMO) is going to the hospital to visit BNP leader Amanullah Aman, who was detained by police in Gabtoli.
Prime Minister's Assistant Press Secretary MM Imrul Kayes said that a delegation led by Prime Minister's Assistant Private Secretary Gazi Hafizur Rahman Liku is going to visit BNP leader Amanullah Aman at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.
The BNP at a rally on Friday announced that it was going to hold sit-ins at different entry points of Dhaka on Saturday to press home its demand for the general election to be held under a non-partisan government.
