Describing the Awami League as the “champion of politics and movements,” General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Friday said no party can defeat them by carrying out a movement.
Quader made the remark while delivering his speech as chief guest at a peace rally of the party at the south gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
“If the BNP tries to commit acts of vandalism, we will break their hands,” warned the senior Awami League leader.
Instructing his party men to avoid confrontation, Quader said: “We are the ruling party, we will not engage in any clashes.”
The BNP's one-point movement to oust the government “got stuck in the mud of Patlan,” said Quader.
“Tarique Rahman (BNP acting chairman) said there will be no scarcity of money. There are some people who are visiting London and giving money to Tarique Rahman to get election nominations. But is there any guarantee that Tarique will be back in Bangladesh?” he asked.
Now the BNP showing its audacity by by hiring lobbyists and trying to win the next election through the intervention of the UN in Bangladesh, said Quader.
“No one can oust Sheikh Hasina as long as the people of Bangladesh are with her,” he added.
Quader also said: “Everyone is calling Tarique Rahman a thief.”
The ruling Awami League organized a peace rally at the south gate of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque with thousands of leaders and activists in attendance.
