Train services on Dhaka-Narayanganj route will resume from August 1 after remaining closed for nearly eight months, said Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujan.
The double line project will be resumed in a short span of time, he made the remarks while inspecting the work of Dhaka-Narayanganj double line project in Narayanganj's Chashara railway station on Tuesday.
The minister said: "The railway line in Narayanganj was closed on the Gandaria section for the work of Padma Bridge. The train service has been closed for a long time. Trains will run again from August 1. We are working on a new dual gauge project. A new contractor will be appointed to complete the double line project in a short time.”
He said the rail movement from Dhaka to Bhanga will be inaugurated in early October next year. The process of starting the trial lane from Kamalapur to Bhanga is underway. A trial lane has been arranged with a full train.
The railway minister said the railway service from Dohazari to Cox's Bazar in Chittagong will start.
The rail transport project from Dohazari to Cox's Bazar in Chittagong will be completed between September and October next year, he added.
The resumption of rail services on this route will be inaugurated soon.
