A “Victor Classic” bus killed two people -- a university student in Dhaka's Rampura area and a child in the Hatirjheel area -- on Thursday.
The bus allegedly ran over the child while trying to escape after killing the university student at around 4:30pm.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police outpost In-Charge Inspector Bachchu Mia and Hatirjheel police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
The university student, Jahid Hasan, 24, was a student at China's North China Electric Power University.
The identity of the child could not be known yet.
Police detained the bus driver's assistant, and seized the bus.
SI Mizanur Rahman said a “Victor Classic” bus hit a university student near Rampura bridge and ran over a child in Hatirjheel while trying to escape. The child died on the spot.
The Victor Classic bus was named “Suprovat Paribahan” before.
However, after several accidents, the bus company changed its name.
In March 2019, the Suprovat Paribahan bus hit a woman pedestrian before running over and killing a Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury in front of Jamuna Future Park in Dhaka.
