The BNP has announced that it will hold marches across Bangladesh, including in Dhaka, on July 18 and 19 to press home its demand for the resignation of the Awami League government, dissolution of parliament, establishment of a non-partisan caretaker government and the release of all the “political prisoners,” including party chief Begum Khaleda Zia, heralding the beginning of its “one-point movement.”
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the announcement while addressing a rally of the party and its affiliates at Naya Paltan, Dhaka, on Wednesday afternoon.
On July 18, there will be a march from Gabtoli to Jatrabari in Dhaka from 10am to 4pm.
The next day, the party will hold a march from 10am to 4pm from Abdullahpur to Bahadur Shah Park in Old Dhaka.
The rally arranged by the BNP's Dhaka South and North units formally began around 1:55pm on Wednesday with a recitation from the holy Quran.
