Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has said the Bangladesh Police will strictly adhere to the instructions of the Election Commission during the upcoming general election.

He also highlighted the significant enhancement of the police force's capabilities, at an even in Sunamganj on Friday morning.

In the past, the nation has faced the menace of terrorism, with militancy being a grave concern. However, under the guidance of the prime minister, the police have adopted a zero-tolerance approach to combating militancy and terrorism, the IGP said.

He added: "Alongside the police, various organizations are working collectively to suppress militancy, and this cooperation will also be evident during the elections. The police have prior experience in carrying out election duties, and we have made ample preparations accordingly."

"The Bangladesh Police is a century-old institution that has played a vital role in upholding law and order in the country. In the past, the southwestern region and the Sundarbans were plagued by bandits and terrorists," he also added.

At the event, the IGP distributed food and clothing to 200 underprivileged families.
