Awami League's three associate bodies — Jubo League, Swechasebak League, and Chhatra League — which initially intended to hold its peace rally on Thursday, have decided to hold the rally at the Dhaka International Trade Fair field at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Friday.
The rally has been postponed by a day as the Dhaka International Trade Fair field is not suitable for the rally, Office Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua told Dhaka Tribune.
They had earlier sought permission to hold the rally at the gymnasium ground of Dhaka University, confirmed Swechasebak League General Secretary Afzalur Rahman Babu on Wednesday.
Earlier, the youth organizations chalked out plans to hold a massive peace rally in the capital on Thursday to protest the violent activities of BNP and its allied parties.
On Wednesday night, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir also announced that they would be holding a rally after jummah prayers in the capital's Naya Paltan area on Friday.
For the last few weeks, Awami League has been holding peace rallies on the days BNP planned to hold their protest program across the country.
Violence between the supporters of the two parties and the BNP activists and the police was reported in nine districts, including Dhaka, on July 18.
