In light of the increased number of dengue patients in Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has opened a hotline number.
People can now call the hotline number - 16263 - to get treatment facilities in an emergency.
At the same time, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) hospital with an 800-bed capacity has been declared a dedicated one to provide healthcare services exclusively for dengue patients, according to an official release disclosed on Monday.
The DGHS has also opened a control room to oversee overall dengue situations, added the press release.
In addition, dengue corners have been opened at every public hospital to handle the mosquito-borne disease.
Alongside ensuring necessary healthcare facilities, the government also converted some state-run specialized hospitals into dedicated ones to cope with the sharp increase in dengue patients.
Earlier, the government fixed Tk50 as a fee instead of Tk100 to test for dengue at public hospitals for the next month.
Arrangements have been made for doctors in all hospitals to receive training on dengue fever. The DGHS has supplied updated dengue treatment guidelines to aid in reducing fatalities caused by dengue fever.
